Hi, my name is James Grosso and I am a sophomore at Rowan University. I am 19 years old and was born in Middletown, New Jersey on July 10, 1999. For as long as I can remember, I have loved sports. I played baseball from when I was three years old until I was seventeen. Baseball is not the only sport I enjoy, but it is the sport that I have followed and loved. I have been a big Yankees fan my entire life, and I am really crossing my fingers for the Wild Card game, but that is besides the point. I decided for my beat, and hopefully this is okay, I want to cover the Yankees system in some way. My friend works for the Trenton Thunder, a Yankees minor league affiliate. He can give me insight on the development on players, and give me insight on the game as well. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to stats, analytics, and the Yankees in general.
My major is journalism, and I hope to one day work in baseball in some sort or another. Whether it is as a beat reporter, announcer, writer, anything and I would be content. As you can see, baseball truly is my passion. My hope from this beat is to not only provide you with more information and insight about the Yankees farm system, but also learn more about my (hopefully) future profession and become better at reporting for my favorite team.
Tonight, October 3rd, the Yankees will be playing in the Wild Card game against the Oakland Athletics. A do-or-die playoff game to determine who will play the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS. This season, Boston was the best team in the league, and one of three teams to finish with 100+ wins including the Yankees and the Astros. The A’s are no pushover and certainly pose a threat. Former Baby Bombers Miguel Andujar, Gleyber Torres, Aaron Judge, and Gary Sanchez are in the starting line-up tonight. Plus, former Baby Bomber Luis Severino will start for the Yankees. My prediction is a 5-3 Yankees win. Severino goes 5 with two earned runs. Yankees go to Boston on Friday for a renewed rivalry series.
