When I was younger, I played recreational baseball and for travel teams. My home field as a kid was at McMahn Park, field one, in Middletown, New Jersey. The field definitely was not the best nor was it in a very good neighborhood. The field just felt like home because I had played at McMahn my whole childhood. I decided to take some photos to try to re-create the nostalgia I felt being there.

IMG-7250This was the view as you came up to the field upon arrival.

This was the dug out and batters circle. When I was younger, one of my teammates was swinging outside of the batting circle and hit my face as he swung. I was knocked out and had to be iced on the bench. I was able to come back in the game after a few innings, ad no lie, received a lot of cheers.

A set of photos to show the infield, pitcher’s mound, home plate, and the foul lines. The field was always quite run down, and the field was always rock hard.

Views of the outfield and outfield distance sign. Our right and left field measured in at 330 feet at the line. Further than left and right field at the new Yankee Stadium.

IMG-7261Our own little field quirk. The foul pole comes out into center field about 25 feet. As a little leaguer this rarely impacted play, but as a travel player, it definitely came into play lot more.

More views of the field. The field definitely was not the most beautiful or best to play on, but it is the only field I can truly associate with home. I am very thankful to have been able to play baseball, especially at McMahn Park.
